A total of Rs 1million was raised by Sahara Hong Kong by organizing a concert in Hong Kong a month ago.
Similarly, Non Residential Nepali (NRN) Hong Kong President Durga Gurung donoated Rs 100,000, while the remaining amuont was provided by other donors. The amount was handed over to Sahara Club President Bir Bhadra Acharya. [break]
Sahara Club has been running its private football academy for orphans besides organizing other football activities in the district. According to Acharya, the money will be used in running the academy located at Dobilla, Pokhara-17.
Meanwhile, donors promised to continue their support to the club. "Sahara Club has been a real sahara (support) for orphans," said Gurung. "I contributed my part after seeing their selfless service," said Gurung.
Sahara Hong Kong President Deepak Gurung said that they will support Sahara Pokhara in future as well. He also promised to provide financial support for the revolving fund proposed by Sahara Pokhara.
According to Sahara Pokhara President Acharya, they are planning to set up a revolving fund of Rs 20 million to run the academy. The club´s former president Bikram Thakali opined that continuous support from donors has motivated them to run the academy. "It is challanging to ensure the club´s continuity," said Thakali.
The residential academy has been providing football training to 16 orphan children besides providing them education and other facilities.
