The fresh call comes after an interruption in the negotiation process. Formal meetings among the parties had stalled since the last meeting held on November 15.
Prime Minister Oli has been urging the political parties to develop common stance on the issue. Likewise, the UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal last week met the top leaders of the UDMF while NC President Sushil Koirala on Friday met Tarai Madhesh Democratic Party (TMDP) Chairman Mahantha Thakur and discussed about the possible solution. Despite all these efforts, leaders are yet to find a solution to the present crisis as the UDMF has been demanding a package deal, including the agenda of changing provincial delineation.
According to the PM's Press Advisor Pramod Dahal, the meeting is scheduled for 11 am on Monday. "The NC-led government had forwarded a constitution amendment bill on two issues. The ruling coalition has been saying that it is ready to move the bill forward if the UDMF is ready to accept it or wants to make some amendments," said Dahal.
"Regarding the issue of provincial delineation, the ruling coalition has been proposing that it would be settled through constitutional process within a certain timeframe by expressing political commitments for now," he added.
According to the PM's Principal Political Advisor Bishnu Rimal, PM Oli has been discussing the current situation with the leaders of coalition partners and has been discussing it informally with the leaders from the agitating parties.
"Following the consultations with various leaders, the PM wants to seek solution through open discussions rather than making a stance before sitting for talks," said Rimal.
Meanwhile, a meeting of the NC office bearers has decided to attend the meeting summoned by PM Oli. According to party spokesperson Dilendra Prasad Badu, the NC is open to settle the delineation issue by forming a parliamentary committee or a political committee comprising top leaders if the agitating parties agreed upon it.
However, the agitating parties have reiterated that the UDMF will not accept any proposal that does not include concrete change on the existing provincial delineation.
"The PM has summoned the meeting. We are hopeful that they have done their homework to address our demands. However, we want concrete proposal for changing provincial delineation," said Laxman Lal Karna, co-chairman of Sadbhavana Party.
On the eve of the talks, Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjeet Rae met PM Oli on Sunday evening.
"The meeting was focused on difficulties and crisis the country has been facing due to the blockade and obstructions at the border checkpoints and it remained positive," said the PM's Press Advisor Dahal.
Earlier on Sunday, Ambassador Rae had met ex-PM Sushil Koirala, who is also the chairman of the main opposition party NC.
