KATHMANDU, June 22: The closed session of the first general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has been delayed as delegates remain waiting outside the venue in Chitwan.

The second day’s programme, scheduled to begin at 8:30 am, had not even started by 11:45 am.

A large number of delegates have gathered at the Chitwan Expo Centre, waiting to enter the hall after showing their delegate identity cards. The delay comes as the party is verifying a large number of claims and objections filed against the delegate list.

Some federal lawmakers who were excluded from the convention delegate list have also submitted claim and objection forms, seeking their inclusion.

The final list of delegates will be released after resolving the disputes. RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, who also coordinates the convention programme operation and management sub-committee, said the closed session would begin a few hours later than the scheduled time.
