KATHMANDU, June 22: The closed session of the First General Convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is set to begin at 8:30 am today, with discussions on four major reports and preparations for the party’s leadership election on the agenda.
The closed session will be held at the Industry Association’s exhibition center in Chitwan, where two of the three large halls have been prepared for the event. The remaining hall has been arranged for food and refreshments.
According to RSP General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti, the session will begin with the presentation of the Disciplinary Commission’s report by Ramakanta Rimal, followed by discussions. Treasurer Lima Adhikari will present the financial report at 9:00 am.

At 10:00 am, General Secretary Burlakoti will present the organizational report, which will also be discussed. The party’s joint general secretary will present the proposed statute for discussion and approval at 10:45 am.
Party President Rabi Lamichhane is scheduled to present the political report at 11:45 am. The report will be discussed and put forward for approval. At 12:45 pm, Lamichhane will announce the formation of an interim management committee, after which the organizing committee will hand over full responsibility to the Central Election Commission.
Following lunch at 1:00 pm, the Election Commission will brief participants on the election process and publish the election schedule. RSP central member Rajan Gautam said arrangements have been made for meals at the venue for both today and tomorrow.
A total of 4,211 representatives, supervisors, and volunteers are expected to participate in the closed session.
Chief of the Central Election Commission Bhuwan KC said candidate nomination forms will be distributed from 1:00 pm today. Nomination registration will take place between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm, while the preliminary candidate list will be published at 6:00 pm.
The commission has scheduled the filing of claims and objections against candidates from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm, followed by scrutiny until 9:00 pm. Candidates can withdraw their nominations until 9:15 pm, and the final candidate list will be published at 11:00 pm.
Voting for the first phase of the election will begin on Tuesday, June 23, from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. Party delegates will vote to elect one chairperson and 99 central committee members. The first round of vote counting and result announcement will take place two hours after voting, followed by the second phase of the election process.
The opening session of the convention was held on Saturday at the Guesthouse Chaur.
