KATHMANDU, June 19: The Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) witnessed a significant internal rift on Friday as three former chairpersons, along with several senior leaders, boycotted the party’s central committee meeting.
The meeting, held at Surya Events in Dhumbarahi, was skipped by former chairpersons Pashupati Shamsher Rana, Dr Prakash Chandra Lohani and Kamal Thapa, signaling growing dissatisfaction within the party’s top ranks.

Similarly, Vice-chair Bikram Pandey, General Secretary Kunti Shahi, work execution committee members Arjun Rai and Haribahadur Basnet, Assistant Spokesperson Prabin Thokar, Assistant General Secretaries Prem Bahadur Raiyar and Rishi Devkota, and Deputy General Secretary Reena Gurung were also absent.
The leaders are understood to have expressed dissatisfaction with party Chair Rajendra Lingden’s working style, sources said.
According to party sources, the boycott followed Lingden’s proposal to include candidates who were defeated in the last March elections in the meeting, which reportedly triggered disagreement among senior leaders.
