National Sports Council (NSC), Nepal Olympic Committee (NOC) and Nepal Taekwondo Association (NTA) signed the agreement in the presence of Youth and Sports Minister Ganesh Tiwari Nepali. [break]
The breakthrough came a day after the NTA´s struggle committee vandalized the ministry blaming the sports authorities for the missed opportunity of the players to participate in the Games.
The agreement states that NOC and NTA will attempt to include the players in Games to be held in Singapore through ´universality place´. All three parties have decided to initiate necessary procedures to send the players for training abroad and for participation in other international matches.
Four players -- Sita Tamang, Gyanu Chunara, Ranjan Shrestha and Jhalakman Tamang -- had missed the opportunity to participate in the qualifiers of the Games last month and NTA has been alleging negligence of NOC for the miss.
NSC has pledged to pay for the players´ educational fee for one year, as they did not appear for their School Leaving Certificate examination keeping in view of the Games. The players had also attended a month long training in South Korea.
There has been an agreement to form a committee for the structural reforms of sports body headed by the under-secretary of Youth and Sports Ministry as the coordinator and the representatives each from NOC and NSC as members so that such misunderstandings do not arise in the future.
Likewise, an agreement has been made that the policy of the ministry will clearly define Nepal´s participation in international sports.
NOC will have to submit the details of the financial correspondence with the International Olympic Committee concerning the players´ participation in the YOG to NSC. Classifications of sports and special privileges for players are to be included in the sports policy.
