"It was really shocking to find that most of the chemicals being used in the labs in Rajbiraj were out of date," said food inspector Suresh Kumar Singh. "It is sheer negligence on the part of the authorities concerned as they are playing around with a sensitive issue like public health," he added.
The monitoring team had found that date-expired chemicals were being used in testing blood, stool, and urine and for ascertaining blood groups among others things at the private labs in Rajbiraj.
The dates of Urea Test Kit and Creatinine Test Kit among other chemicals at Aakash Pathology Lab in Rajbiraj had already expired a year ago.
Similarly, according to Netra Khatiwada, section officer at DAO, Muskan Pathology was found using various date-expired chemicals for testing blood, urine and for ascertaining blood groups. The monitoring team seized all the date-expired chemicals.
According to Raghubir Sah, the leader of the monitoring team, they would demand clarifications from the pathology labs concerned within a week and take appropriate action.
