KATHMANDU: Qatar Airways is increasing the passenger baggage allowance with effect from September 1. Issuing a press statement, the airways said passengers flying Qatar Airways routes worldwide will have enhanced baggage allowances with additional baggage weight allowed per person.

The airlines has increased economy weight allowances from 23 kg to 30 kg, while baggage allowance for passengers in business and first class has been raised from 30 kg and 40 kg to 40 kg and 50 kg, respectively. The number of bags remains the same and dependent on the type of ticket purchased, said the statement. According to the airlines, the increased weight allowance does not apply when travelling to points that are regulated by per-piece allowance. “Revising our standard baggage allowance comes at a time whereby the number of destinations we fly is increasing and our global reach is broadening,” Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al Baker said in the statement.
