KATHMANDU, March 12: Dalit youths on Wednesday staged a protest at Maitighar Mandala demanding action against the culprits of the rape and murder of 16-year-old girl Inisha BK. The gruesome incident took place in the Janajagaran Community Forest near Shahid Park, Birendranagar-4, Surkhet last Saturday.
The participants in the protest carried placards reading ‘Justice for Inisha BK’, ‘Stop rape and violence against Dalits’, ‘Ensure women’s rights’, ‘We want justice’ and ‘Unite against VAW’.

A permanent resident of Badakholi, Gurbhakot Municipality-6 and currently living in Birendranagar-1, BK was found unconscious in the Janajagaran Community Forest near Shahid Park, Birendranagar-4 on the morning of March 7. She was taken to the Provincial Hospital, Kalagaun, by the police, but was declared dead upon arrival by the doctors.
The relatives of the deceased have filed a complaint at the District Police Office, Surkhet, alleging gang rape. Initial police investigations have confirmed that Inisha died after being raped.
Surkhet police have also arrested four people in connection with the incident.
