State-owned oil monopoly Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) hasn’t distributed fuel to private vehicles since October 13 or the first day of Dashain festival.“We will distribute fuel to private vehicles from coming Thursday till Saturday,” Mukunda Ghimire, officiating director of NOC, told Republica. “Petrol and diesel will be distributed to private vehicles from 50 fuel stations in the Kathmandu Valley.”
Ghimire also said public vehicles won’t get fuel on these days.
NOC is expected to publish a public notice regarding fuel distribution to private vehicles on Tuesday.
Ghimire, however, said fuel will be distributed to two-wheelers and four-wheelers on lot system. According to him, two-wheelers from 1 to 30 lot will get fuel on Thursday, 30 to 50 lot on Friday, and those above 50 lot will get petrol on Saturday. NOC is yet to decide distribution system for private four-wheelers. Similarly, NOC also has not disclosed the name of fuel stations and the quantity that they will distribute on these three days.
However, Ghimire said two-wheelers will get 5 liters of petrol, while four-wheelers will be distributed 10 liters.
