BIRATNAGAR, Aug 22: Chairman of the newly formed Madhes Samajbadi Party Sharat Singh Bhandari has said that the President´s rejecting the ordinances related to the election is a welcome step.

Talking to media persons briefly at Biratnagar Airport on Wednesday, Bhandari praised the President´s decision to send back the ordinances to the government.[break]

"Formation of an alliance among the political parties inside and outside the government will not ensure national consensus," he said.

"The incumbent government is attempting to capture state power sidelining the constituent assembly ( CA) election issues," said the former Defense Minister Bhandari, stressing the need of institutionalizing the decisions made by the CA on the basis of national consensus and thereby forming a national unity government.

The announcement of CA elections should take place on the basis of consensus, he added.
