LAHAN, April 6: More that 72 hours after his abduction from a major intersection of Lahan on Saturday night, the police have no clue as to where the school kid Subash Kumar Sah might have been hidden.

Police claimed a joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force has combed the area but to no avail. The kidnappers had called Sah´s father Garib 24 hours after abduction and demanded Rs 5,000,000 in ransom. The abductors, who reportedly fluently spoke in Nepali, had given 48-hour ultimatum to pay the amount.

The kidnappers had offered to reduce the ransom amount by Rs 500,000 in the latest call to the family on Tuesday afternoon. “They said they were not begging and that they had already spent Rs 500,000 to execute the abduction plan,” Garib said.

Garib seeking help from local businessmen, human right activists and civil society saying he cannot pay the huge ransom. “I can only afford Rs 100, 000,” Garib said.

The locals accused the police of indifference and have given a 24-hour ultimatum to secure the kid´s release. Lahan Chamber of Commerce has warned of indefinite shut down if the kid is not released within the given deadline.
