KATHMANDU, March 11: The Nepal Police Headquarters has issued a public advisory as air pollution levels have risen alarmingly in Kathmandu and other major cities, urging citizens to take necessary precautions.
According to Central Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General Abi Narayan Kafle, the police released a six-point request advising the public to avoid going outdoors unless absolutely necessary, share rides or travel in groups to reduce vehicle use, and refrain from burning waste or lighting fires when pollution levels are high.

The advisory particularly emphasizes extra caution for children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues, and encourages the regular use of masks. Citizens experiencing breathing difficulties are advised to seek immediate medical attention at the nearest hospital or health center.
With changing weather patterns, pollution levels have been rising, especially in urban areas including the Kathmandu Valley. The Ministry of Health has also urged the public to remain vigilant and prioritize health during this period.
