KATHMANDU, April 4: Nepal Police in Kathmandu detained at least 18 individuals last night. A joint team from the District Police Range (DPR) Kathmandu and the Kathmandu Crime Investigation Office carried out the arrests on charges of involvement in gang-related activities.
According to police, the operation, described as a ‘sweep operation,’ targeted multiple locations across the valley.

Those arrested include Prabin Tamang, who has been active in the Shyam Lama group and involved in gang activities around the Boudha area. Other arrests were made in different areas, including Birju Maharjan in Kalanki–Bafal, Sujan Karki near the Kalanki bus ticket counter and petrol pump, and Saru Humagai, Sanjib Lama, Suresh Giri, and Ashok Giri in the Syuchatar area.
Police said the move aims to maintain peace and security in society and that such operations will be intensified in the coming days.
