The four LRO officials were working in the computer section of the office. LRO staff refused to attend to their regular work saying four out of five employees in the computer section were arrested and therefore, they are short-staffed to carry out normal business of the office.
Uday Bahadur Kunwar, Rukmani Dhakal, Rajendra Pokharel and Mohan Darlami were arrested on Friday after the police allegedly found their involvement in the racket. Ananta Subedi and Upendra Mehta of the same section are already under custody for investigation in the same case. They were arrested two weeks ago.
LRO chief and staff members padlocked the office of Chief District Officer (CDO) Shambhu Koirala and protested arrest of their colleagues.
Chief of LRO said that primary office operation was not being possible after police arrested four staff members of the computer section. “In the name of investigation, the police are unnecessarily troubling civil servants,” he added.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Yadav Raj Khanal said he is ready to send tainted LRO officials back to their office but only accompanied by police to make sure the police investigation doesn´t disturb the regular operation of the office. “I have informed the LRO chief that we are ready to cooperate so that people don´t suffer,” he added.
The police nabbed Paudel and two aides Kamal Man Guvaju of Pokhara and Bir Bahadur Bishwokarma of Syangja in the last week of June. Based on their statements, the police have arrested LRO officials and chief of MDB Credit Department Jhalak Subedi.
