PM to propose six-month CA extension

KATHMANDU, Aug 23: Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal is set to propose to extend the Constituent Assembly (CA) term by six months in an all-party meeting scheduled for Tuesday.



PM Khanal proposed six-month extension during a meeting of ruling coalition although UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal had wanted a nine-month extension to conclude the peace and constitution drafting processes.[break]



PM had called a meeting of the ruling party and other parties to discuss extension of CA term at the Prime Minister´s official residence in Baluwatar on Tuesday morning.



Some of the parties had suggested an extension of three months while other had suggested for an extension of at least nine months.



The term of the CA which has already been extended twice is going to expire on Aug 28.
