PM offers to treat ex-combatant

BARA, Nov 8: Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai has reportedly expressed interest in providing treatment for former Maoist combatant Parshuram Chaudhary, who is struggling to save his life, after reading about the latter´s plight in Republica on Monday.



“Prime Minister has taken interest in providing you treatment. Let us go to Kathmandu,” Chaudhary, who is Bhojpura Coordinator of the Maoist-affiliated Tharuwan Mukti Morcha, said quoting Maoist in-charge of Bara district Lal Kiran. [break]



Chaudhary, 45, said the Maoist cadres wished to take him to Kathmandu immediately but he will only travel on Thursday.



Chaudhary, who was taken away by the Maoists when he was working as a mechanic at a thread factory in Bhairahawa 16 years ago, had been referred to Kathmandu for the treatment of his stomach ailment three weeks ago but was not able to go to the capital due to lack of money.
