During his telephonic conversation with Mukherjee, Bhattarai extended his warm wishes and expressed his optimism of strengthening the bilateral relation between the two countries during his tenure as the president.[break]
Mukherjee was declared 13th president of India on Sunday evening. He beat his only rival P.A. Sangma, a former lower house speaker who was backed by the main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Similarly, Ram Chandra Paudel, vice-president of Nepali Congress has also congratulated Mukherjee. Issuing a press statement today, Paudel hoped the two countries would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation during his term in office.
