Person using indecent language against President on Facebook arrested

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Police here on Thursday arrested a person using indecent language against President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the social site Facebook.

KATHMANDU, Dec 15: Police here on Thursday arrested a person using indecent language against President Bidya Devi Bhandari on the social site Facebook. 



The Central Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police arrested Bibek Baniya of Bandipur Municipality-3, Tanahun district on the charge of writing Facebook status using indecent and offensive words against the President and disrespecting the Head-of-the-State.

Police said Baniya would be tried under the Electronic Transaction Act, 2063 BS and necessary investigation was underway in this connection. A person convicted under the Clause 47 of the Act faces five years imprisonment and up to Rs 100 thousand in fine or both. 


Baniya is a Bachelor Level third year science student at Tri-Chandra College in Kathmandu. RSS
