KATHMANDU, July 29: Chief Secretary Leela Mani Paudyal on Wednesday clarified he has not proposed himself as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Reconstruction Authority.

Saying that it’s not his job to recommend CEO at the authority, Paudyal added he has not met Prime Minister Sushil Koirala since a week.

“I have not talked a single word with the PM on the issue,” he told Myrepublica, adding that cabinet will propose name to the post, not him.
Media reports had claimed that Paudyal has proposed names for CEO at the authority.

He stated that he didn’t propose UCPN (Maoist) leader Baburam Bhattarai, UML leaders Bhim Rawal, Gokarna Bista and Rabindra Adhikari, Nepali Congress (NC) leader Gagan Thapa and vice-chairman of National Planning Commission Govinda Adhikari and himself as CEO.

The government had formed the authority for reconstruction works after the devastating April 25 earthquake. However, it has failed to nominate CEO.

Chief Secretary Paudyal is retiring due to age limit on August 7.

Press Advisor to the PM, Prateek Pradhan, said it’s not the responsibility of the Chief Secretary to recommend CEO at the authority.

“The cabinet will decide the name,” Pradhan told Myrepublica, “I am unaware on Chief Secretary proposing names to the PM.”
