According to PADT, Bhatta, who has been working for Pashupatinath temple for last 21 years, has cited family issues for his resignation. He wants to go back (India) as he needs to take care of his elderly parents.[break]
Although the PADT has accepted the resignation, a final approval has to be given by the chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi. According to PADT member-secretary Govinda Tandan, the resignation letter has already been forwarded to Regmi.
“We have to wait for the final approval,” said Tandan. “After the final decision, we will also appoint a new head priest at the temple.”
According to Tandan, Ganesh Bhatta, who is from Karnataka, is likely to be the next chief priest of Pashupatinath Temple as he is senior priest after Mahabaleshwar Bhatta at the Pashupatinath temple.
