“We are concerned as there is no representative from the Madhesi parties in the mechanism,” said JP Gupta, a special committee member representing Madhesi People´s Rights Forum, after a meeting of the Special Committee on Wednesday morning. “We should be represented in the mechanism.”
The mechanism comprises of three members each from the Special Committee for Supervision, Integration and Rehabilitation of Maoist combatants and its secretariat.
The meeting on Wednesday was supposed to give final shape to the mechanism but could not after representatives from Madhesi parties on the Special Committee objected the formation of such a mechanism that would not have their representation.
Sources said that the prime minister will discuss the issue with Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal before taking any decision with regard to the demand of the Madhesi parties.
