Oli thanks Mahesh Basnet

KATHMANDU, June 25: Standing Committee member of the ruling CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli thanked Mahesh Basnet, chairman of UML´s wing Youth Association Nepal (YAN), for strongly refuting reports that Oli was giving protection to Parshuram Basnet.



Oli said he was thankful to Mahesh because he did something the party should have done.[break]



"The party should have refuted misleading reports and condemned it but it didn´t. I thank Mahesh because he did so," Oli said at a function organized in Lalitpur by Madan Bhandari Intellectual Forum on Saturday.



Oli also applauded Mahesh as a bold and determined UML member for retaliating against Maoists excesses.



While the UML party leadership and the government has been widely criticized for their failure to nab Parshuram, the main accused behind the attack on Republica correspondent Khilanath Dhakal, Mahesh said Parshuram was in his contact and challenged the government to arrest him.



Mahesh claimed that Parshuram was not working hand in glove with the assailants in the attack and asserted that there was no point in presenting Parshuram before the police.
