NTA to implement project for people with disability

KATHMANDU, Nov 25: With growing use of ICT and telecommunications services, Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) is implementing a project which will allow the people with disabilities to use ICT tools allowing them to communicate effectively.



The telecom sector regulator recently issued a notice for public consultation on a draft report titled “Making ICT and mobile phones accessible for person with disabilities in Nepal”. [break]



Acting Chairman of the authority Ananda Raj Khanal said, “In order to implement the project, we need a guideline which will be drafted on the basis of inputs from various stakeholders.”



"Oce the guideline is ready, NTA will start the implementation process." NTA is implementing the project in technical collaboration with International Telecommunication Union (ITU).



Although NTA is yet to finalize the model, the officials said they were preparing to provide different options to persons with different disabilities.
