KATHMANDU, July 14: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Rabi Lamichhane has condemned the incident in which vehicles were parked in a manner that obstructed the entrances to media offices, saying those responsible must be investigated and held accountable.
Speaking to journalists at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Lamichhane said action would be taken even if the investigation found leaders or members of his own party to be involved.
He noted that the RSP had already issued an official statement on the incident and said the party remained firm in its position. "The party has already spoken and issued a statement. We have clearly said that this was wrong. We remain firm that the matter must be investigated and those responsible must face action," he said.

Lamichhane argued that what the traffic police did or did not do immediately after the incident was a secondary issue, saying the overall nature of the incident appeared highly unusual and warranted a thorough investigation. "Whether someone was released, detained or charged is a separate matter," he said. "But the pattern we have seen is abnormal, and our position on this is absolutely clear."
Responding to a question about whether disciplinary action would be taken if RSP members were found to be involved, Lamichhane referred to the party's record of enforcing internal discipline. "Why wouldn't we? What kind of question is that?" he said. "RSP is a party that has demonstrated its commitment by taking action against one of its own lawmakers within 72 hours. Why ask RSP such a question? Whoever is responsible will face action."
Lamichhane also spoke about his recent meeting with Prime Minister Balendra Shah. He said their discussion focused on finding a long-term solution to the issue of landless squatters as well as the country's evolving political situation. "We mainly discussed how to make measures aimed at resolving the squatter issue more effective," Lamichhane said. "We also exchanged views on the national political situation and the challenges that may arise in the days ahead."
