KATHMANDU, April 2: Rabi Lamichhane, chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has said that no Nepali citizen should have to submit or bow based on caste in the future.

Speaking at the first session of the newly convened House of Representatives, Lamichhane said organized crimes committed in the name of caste in the past must not be repeated. “No Nepali should ever bow to caste,” he stated. “Justice will determine the value of forgiveness.”

Referring to centuries-old injustices faced by communities such as the Sunars, Lamichhane noted that previous leaders did not seek forgiveness for wrongdoings against Khagendra Sunar. He added that he himself has taken the step to apologise publicly. “It was an organized crime, and for the first time, this government is publicly asking for forgiveness in this House,” he said.
