KATHMANDU, July 30: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has said nobody should forcibly convert people.

Receiving the memorandum with various demands put forth by the National Christian Federation Nepal at his residence on Thursday, PM Koirala opined that it would be appropriate to follow the middle path in the context of myriad of suggestions regarding secularism that have come from the people.

The Prime Minister, in a meeting with the delegation of the Federation, gave assurances that new constitution would be issued incorporating the aspirations of all by correcting the shortcomings in the preliminary draft of the constitution.

Cautioning that the country would meet a big accident if the constitution were not promulgated on time, he said he has been making efforts to bring the parties that are outside the Constituent Assembly and the constitution-making process into consensus.

On the occasion, the Federation demanded that the country could not backtrack from secularism and the implementation of the agreements inked between the government and the Federation in the past. RSS
