NIBL lifts corporate football title

KATHMANDU, May 6: Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIBL) on Sunday clinched the title of Kathmandu Second Corporate Five-A-Side Football Tournament held at the Madhyapur Youth Association ground in Bhaktapur. NIBL thrashed Janta Bank 7-0 in the final.



Surya Nepal claimed the third place defeating DECC 2-0. Earlier, Janta Bank had defeated Surya Nepal 1-0 and NIBL had edged past DECC 2-1 during competitive semifinals to set up the title clash. [break]



In the quarterfinals, Janta had ousted Himalayan Bank 3-1, NIBL thumped United Spirits 6-1, Surya Nepal edged past Citizens Bank 4-1, DECC overcame Civil Bank 3-1.



Zenith Travels Private Limited was awarded with the fair play award, Pravesh Shrestha of winning NIBL was given the best goalkeeper award. The highest scorer award went to Trishakti Rana of Surya Nepal for scoring 11 goals. Narayan Bikram Pandey of NIBL was declared the best player and the player of the tournament went to Surya Nepal Vice President Rabi KC.



Himalayan Brewery Limited Director cum CEO Sabin Bhakta Joshi, H & B Development Bank CEO Jasoda Saiju, of Nepal Republic Media Corporate Advisor Sohan Shrestha and MYA President Upendra Man Singh, among others, distributed trophies, medals and certificate to the winning and runner up team respectively.



Altogether 16 teams had participated in the tournament organized by Himalayan Brewery Limited. The two-day long tournament was held in the league cum knockout basis.
