KATHMANDU, March 2: The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has urged one and all to fully adhere to the election code of conduct to ensure free and fair elections to the House of Representatives (HoR) on March 5.
Everyone has a role in making the HoR election successful, so all sides should maintain restraint, NHRC said, encouraging all to extend support to strengthening peace and security for the election. The misuse of social networking sites and the dissemination of defaming content must be curbed, it stressed.

Issuing a statement on Sunday, NHRC Spokesperson Dr Tikaram Pokharel urged the government and all other concerned to make the HoR election human rights-friendly.
"During the pre-election monitoring, NHRC found many electoral candidates flouting the code of conduct. Use of children in election campaigning and threat to journalists is against the code of conduct," he said, adding that use of election symbol in physical form, placing publicity materials at private houses without permission, and involvement of local level peoples' representatives and employees in electioneering drew equal concern.
