New governor Nepal assumes office

KATHMANDU, March 22: Newly appointed governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, Chiranjivi Nepal, assumed his office at the central bank on Sunday afternoon.

After assuming the office, Governor Nepal endorsed a decision to gradually return the deposits of the account holders of the Chrystal Finance, declared as 'problematic' by the central bank.Talking to media persons briefly on the occasion, Nepal expressed the commitment to working with a priority on financial stability of the country.

He was welcomed to his office by the central bank staffers including Deputy Governors Gopal Prasad Kafley and Maha Prasad Adhikari.

Earlier this afternoon, Governor Nepal took the oath of office and secrecy at a function organized at the Supreme Court. Acting Chief Justice Kalyan Shrestha administered the oath of office and secrecy to Nepal.
