Speaking at a program, the Prime Minister and chairman of CPN-UML said that the spirit and aim of the seven-point agreement was for timely constitution, lasting peace and country´s social transformation.[break]
"The two-party consensus has not created an obstacle for broader consensus and unity among all parties. A new consensus can be forged on a higher pedestal by a meeting of the three parties", added PM Khanal in a program held on the occasion of 13th anniversary of the Reporters´ Club.
On the occasion, the PM said that the Council of Ministers has managed necessary human resources and funds for the monitoring of the PLA combatants as per the mandate of the army integration special committee.
Likewise, Chairman of UCPN (Maoist) Pushpa Kamal Dahal stressed on the need for a political will for drafting the new constitution and completing the peace process as per the wish of Nepali citizens.
He also urged all to move ahead seriously for making Nepal a civilized and prosperous nation.
Dahal said parties should forge consensus on principles and programmes for the progressive restructuring of the State.
Likewise, Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said a new time for fresh election should be declared after promulgating the new constitution followed by completion of the peace process adding that there is no alternative to talks, consensus and unity among the parties.
He warned that the country could fall into a crisis if the parties fail to forge consensus.
Prime Minister Khanal, Maoist Chairman Dahal and NC President Koirala gave away the different prizes to various journalists on the occasion.
On the occasion, senior journalist Harihar Birahi got ´Girijababu Journalism Award´ which carries a purse of Rs. 100,000 while Manarishi Dhital got ´Krishna Sen Ichchhuk Journalism Award´ carrying a purse of Rs. 25,000.
Similarly, Shruti Shrestha was given the ´Babuchhiri Photo Journalism Award´ and Brij Kumar Yadav the ´Birendra Sah Journalism Award´.
