Nepali Janata Dal splits

KATHMANDU, June 8: Constituent Assembly member Biswanath Agrawal has defected from Nepali Janata Dal and registered a new party, Nepali Janata Party (United), at the parliament secretariat on Wednesday.



The party has two members in the Constituent Assembly but another member Gayatri Sah has been suspended from her membership after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case accusing her of misusing her diplomatic passport.



The party´s chairman Haricharan Sah, who is the father of Gayatri Sah, has gone underground after he was also indicted in the passport misuse scam. Gayatri was the party´s parliamentary party leader.



Agrawal formally informed CA Chairperson Subas Nembang about the registration of the new party under his leadership on Wednesday.
