KATHMANDU, Nov 24: Nepali cyclist Saurab Dahal, who is on a world tour, has been robbed of his belongings at Paris Railway Station in France on Friday evening. A group of unidentified persons filched away with his laptop, mobile, 800 euros and legal documents that were helpful in getting visas during his world tour.

“My bag with valuable belongings got stolen at around 6 in the evening when I was at Paris Railway Station trying to arrange my trip to Belgium,” Dahal told Republica by telephone. [break]

“My visa will expire in four days and my stay in Europe will be invalid from November 28.”

His health insurance and documents from Nepali as well as other embassies have been stolen in the incident. “I do not even have a penny with me now and the documents that proved my legal status have also been lost. I have requested our embassy in France to get me duplicate copies of some of the documents so that I can resume my journey,” said Dahal.

Dahal has filed a case with the French Police and is currently staying in Paris at the residence of a Non-Resident Nepali Rameshwar Shrestha.

Dahal has been on the world tour on a bicycle since 2007 to spread the knowledge that Lord Buddha was born in Nepal. He has already traveled 51 countries of Asia, Europe and Australia. He aims to complete the journey in 2020.
