Nepal takes on Cameroon today

KATHMANDU, Aug 25: Nepal will lock horns with Cameroon in its second match of the Nehru Cup Football Tournament under way in New Delhi, India.

Nepal which is pointless after being defeated by South Asian rival Maldives is eyeing a draw against Cameroon which settled for 2-2 tie against Syria in its opening match played on Friday. Similarly, Nepal was defeated 2-1 by Maldives on Thursday.



Similarly, Cameroon, one of the title contenders of the tournament has targeted a win against Nepal. Nepal surely will be under pressure as Cameroon is aiming to beat the Nepali side to strengthen its hope of making it into the final.[break]



Though Nepal´s coach Krishna Thapa has rated Cameroon as a team better than Nepal he said his side will play for a draw.



"We will play for a draw, "Thapa said adding, "Cameroon is a good team and we have watched them play against Syria."



Coach Thapa is likely to make changes in his starting line for the face-off with the central African nation. Thapa is likely to pair forward Jumanu Rai with Bharat Khawas in the starting line up. Rai, who came as a replacement for striker Santosh Sahukhala during Nepal´s last encounter against Maldives scored a goal during the fading moments.



Meanwhile, Nepal´s training session on Friday and Saturday was interrupted due to rains. Goalie Kiran is down with fever.

According to goalnepal.com, Cameroon coach Emmanuel Endumbe said his side was looking for victory at any cost against Nepal as it was under pressure after settling for a draw in its first match.



"Nepal can pose a big threat and we are not in the position to take it lightly," Endumbe said adding, "We have to win the remaining matches. The match against Syria wasn´t too bad. We have just completed one match and need to go step by step. The target is to win the title."
