KATHMANDU, April 2: The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has initiated the development of the National Pre-Monsoon Preparedness and Response Plan 2083. An 18-member task force, chaired by Roshni Kumari Shrestha, head of the NDRRMA’s Policy, Planning, and Monitoring Division, has been formed to oversee the drafting process.
According to Spokesperson Joint Secretary Shanti Mahat, the task force includes representatives from federal ministries, departments, the NDRRMA, and all three security agencies. The plan aims to ensure a coordinated approach involving federal, provincial, and local governments, security agencies, and partner organizations to effectively mitigate potential monsoon-related disasters and reduce human and property losses.
Ram Kumar KC, a member of the task force, stated that all representatives have been given one week to submit suggestions. Following the collection of inputs on key areas to include, the next task force meeting is scheduled for the following week.

Home Minister Sudan Gurung recently directed the NDRRMA to prepare the response plan promptly to strengthen disaster management measures.
