NC youth wing enforce Rapti banda

DANG, Aug 21: A youth wing and students union close to Nepali Congress (NC) enforced Rapti banda on Tuesday, protesting the Supreme Court’s verdict against NC leader Khum Bahadur Khadka on graft charges.



Normal life in Dang, Salyan, Pyuthan and Rolpa have been crippled due to the banda called by the Nepal Students Union and Tarun Dal. [break]



All education institutions, marketplaces, shops and industries have remained shut. Transport services has also been brought to a grinding halt.



The banda enforcers have also vandalized a motorcycle (Ra 1 Pa 1133) in Bankroad, Ghorahi, accusing of defying the banda. Two of the protesters allegedly involved in the act have been arrested, said Superintendent of Police, Ganesh Bahadur Ayer, district police chief, Dang.



Earlier, the SC convicted Khadka of corruption and slapped a one-and-a-half-year jail sentence for him along with confiscation of the corruption amount of Rs 9.47 million and a fine of the same amount.
