JHAPA, Dec. 31: Central member of the Nepali Congress (NC), Arjun Narsingh KC, has said that NC would not lay claim on the post of Prime Minister if the ruling party, UCPN-Maoist, guaranteed holding election by mid-May.

At a news conference organised by Jhapa chapter of the Nepal Press Union in Birtamod today, KC said there was no alternative to new election in the country. [break]

He said free and fair election is the only alternative to give an outlet to the country.

The NC central member said there was no meaning of sticking to power if the UCPN-Maoist was really in favour of election.

KC also clarified that NC is not in favour of reinstatement of the Constituent Assembly (CA).
