A CWC meeting held at the party´s headquarters on Tuesday has given Koirala 48 hours to furnish clarification. Paudel, who was in detention on the charge of involvement in the killing of CPN-UML-affiliated Youth Association Nepal central member Sanjaya Lama, was attacked by inmates in the Chitwan district prison in the wee hours on December 6. The seriously injured Paudel had breathed his last while undergoing treatment at Neuro Hospital, Bansbari in Kathmandu, on December 17.
The CWC meeting had discussed in detail the report submitted by a five-member committee headed by party General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula to probe into the incident. The report has pointed out shortcomings on the part of Koirala in avoiding such a fateful incident.
The CWC meeting also concluded the caretaker prime minister´s move to promulgate ordinances without political consensus was unconstitutional. “NC won´t accept ordinances without consensus between the political parties,” KC further said.
Deuba faction to attend CWC meeting from Wednesday
Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction of the party has decided to participate in the CWC meeting from Wednesday. The rival faction had been boycotting the CWC meeting after the dissolution of the working committees of various sister organizations some nine months ago.
Deuba faction decided to participate in the CWC meeting after the establishment side agreed to include additional 22 members from their side in NSU ad hoc committee and ensure minimum majority in Nepal Tarun Dal and Nepal Women´s Association.
“We are preparing a list of names to be submitted to the party president. We will start attending the CWC meeting possibly from Wednesday once those names are formally finalized by the party,” said a senior leader close to Deuba.
