KATHMANDU, July 19: The Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have stressed the need for endorsing the no-trust motion registered in Parliament against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli with a majority.

Most of the NC central committee members speaking at the committee's meeting at party central office in Sanepa on Tuesday emphasized the need for passing the motion.

At the outset, NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba spoke on current political scenario.

The meeting also dwelt on the effective implementation of the agreement struck between the NC and the CPN (Maoist Center) for the withdrawal of the Maoist Centre from the incumbent government, apart from coordinating and leading the negotiation with all political parties including the CPN-UML for the implementation of the constitution and post-quake reconstruction, said NC leader Arjun Narsingh KC.

"Theoretical discussions were held on the issues about the involvement of the NC in the new government and the top leadership will finalize, through mutual consensus, the names of potential ministers after the party central committee prepares due standards," KC said.

NC central member Dr Narayan Khadka was of the view that the new government should conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process through consensus on the basis of international practice and that the political parties and groups dissatisfied with the constitution including Madhesis should be brought on board by addressing their genuine demands through talks.

He also said that the next government should hold three levels of elections—local, provincial and federal in time.

Also, emerging from the meeting, NC leader Sujata Koirala said that there was no alternative for all political parties including the NC and UML to moving ahead together to implement the constitution and sorting out tough problems facing the country.

Likewise at the meeting, NC leaders like Mahesh Acharya, Gynendra Bahadur Karki, Gururaj Ghimire, Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Gagan Kumar Thapa, NP Saud, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Bal Krishna Khand, Dr Minendra Rijal, Pradip Poudel, Ramesh Lekhak, Bhimsha Raj Aangedembe and Pradip Giri among others also spoke.
