A joint meeting of NC central working committee and parliamentary party held at parliament building at New Baneshwar on Monday decided to pressure the government to summon House session, which remains prorogued for the past two months.
The government had prorogued House session on February 18, a day before the India visit by Prime Minister K P Oli.
"Talks with the agitating Madhesi parties is in limbo, constitution implementation and post-quake reconstruction works are getting nowhere, and black-marketing and inflation is spiralling," NC lawmaker Ram Krishna Yadav said. "Our party urges the government to summon the House session to discuss all these issues."
The informal meeting was chaired by NC senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel as party president Sher Bahadur Deuba, who was about to leave for New Delhi on the same day, was absent.
NC lawmakers have also demanded the government to extend the deadline for recommending development projects, in their respective districts for inclusion in the upcoming fiscal year's budget by 12 days. They demanded the extension of deadline arguing that they could not recommend projects as they remained busy in the party general convention last month.
Meanwhile, Deuba reached India on Monday for the treatment of his wife and and NC lawmaker Arzu. She is undergoing treatment for her backbone at a New Delhi-based hospital.
Although Deuba has said that the visit for the treatment of his wife, his meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh have been fixed, according to a close aide to Deuba.
"When a leader of the main opposition party and a former prime minister visits India, it is natural for political meetings to take place, but the meetings were not scheduled beforehand," said NC leader Ramesh Lekhak, who is close with Deuba.
Deuba's visit to India is being watched with much interest as it is happening immediately after his election as party president and parliamentary party leader. Of late, Deuba has been calling for addressing the demands of the Madhesi parties, and he held a meeting with Madhesi leaders on Sunday.
Deuba is scheduled to return home on Saturday.
