At a workshop seminar organized here today, the Ministry officials gave out the information that the policy is going to be brought for the scientific management, distribution and use of land. [break]
The Ministry has sought suggestions from experts and stakeholders on the issues needed for the policy.
Inaugurating the seminar, Vice-Chairman of the National Planning Commission (NPC), Dipendra Bahadur Kshetri said there was need of a national land policy for economic progress and long-term development of the country.
He emphasized on the need of effective implementation of the policy rather than merely formulating the policy for the sake of it.
Kshetri said conflict has been created as land could not be properly managed since long.
Similarly, Governor at Nepal Rastra Bank, Dr. Yubraj Khatiwada, stressed on the need of land policy for the balanced economic development in the country.
The then Chairman of the High-Level Land Reform Commission, Keshav Badal, said that there should be scientific management of land for building equitable society as the suggestions given by them is also contextual now.
The seminar was held under the chairmanship of Secretary at the Ministry, Sushil Ghimire, where former lawmaker Shanta Chaudhary suggested that the land policy would be brought addressing the demands of the poor and farmers.
