KATHMANDU, April 9: “It’s a matter of Mero Bhawishya, Mero Chaso” (My future, my concern), the organizers of Climate Change Concert together enjoined at the press meet held at British Council Nepal (BCN) Thursday.[break]

“Global warming has caused serious effects on our atmosphere. It’s high time that we worked collectively to stop our atmosphere degrade. And, music is the best medium to spread the word en masse,” International Climate Champions Network, the organizer of the concert, added.

International Climate Champions Network in association with British Council Nepal promises to make it big on Saturday afternoon at the Basantpur Durbar Square where the concert will be followed by a series of activities highlighting the different ways we can stop carbon emission in our atmosphere.

The musical extravaganza will feature live performances by promising bands like X-Mantra, Ciney Gurung, Dibya Subba & The Blue Acidz, Alt F4, Buddha N’ Shrestha (with Kid Soul), Saarathi, Kaal, and Force.

Sundar Layalu, one of the organizers highlighted, “The prime objectives of this event are communicating about climate change and its effects, creating awareness, developing networks to process youth movement, and to neutralize carbon from our atmosphere. We’ll make sure that people are inclined to using alternative energies like solar power to cut the production of carbon. We’ll also highlight the importance of using bicycles instead of other wheelers and we’ll show them our research report on the present state of carbon in the air of Kathmandu Valley. We’ll get people to learn the ways to dispose of them.”

Likewise, Rojesh Shrestha, the lead vocalist of X Mantra, who will launch his song “Jagau” at the concert, added, “Through music, we certainly can disseminate our core message. This event becomes even more special because, as far as I know, this is the last concert that is being held at Basantpur. After this, the heritage site will not permit anyone to perform at the locality.”
