Rama Sankar Mandal, 35, of Lal Parsa VDC-9 in Parsa district, was shot at around 11:30 am. He died while being rushed to Narayani Hospital, Birgunj. [break]
According to eyewitnesses Mandal was gunned down when he was getting out of AIC office after buying fertilizers for his paddy.
An eyewitness said that one of the gunmen who had reached there on a black Pulsar motorbike with an Indian number plate fired two rounds at Mandal.

Mandal, who has a son and a daughter, both of them under the age of nine, was the general secretary of Madheshi Factory Workers´ Forum affiliated to MPRF-Nepal.
“He (Mandal) had not informed us that his life was in danger,” said Bindeshwar Yadav, chairman of the workers forum.
District Police Office of Birgunj has stepped up security following the incident.
“We had arrested five suspects. Some of them have been released after interrogation,” said inspector Sujan Joshi, adding, “Investigation into the incident is on.”
