KATHMANDU, June 13: At a time when its ousted leaders are trying to woo district level leaders to rally with them, Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Democratic (MPRF-D) has decided to mobilize central members across Tarai districts in a bid to stop them quitting the party.

A meeting of MRPF-D central committee (CC) at party headquarters in Sanepa on Tuesday took the decision amid reports that about 2,000 districts leaders and cadres could join a party to be formed by Sharat Singh Bhandari. [break]

"The meeting took the decision to mobilize central leaders across Tarai districts with a view to keep our all leaders intact," said a leader on condition of anonymity.

According to MPRF-D Chief Secretary Parmanand Mehata, altogether 10 teams comprising 3 to 5 central committee members will be mobilized from June 16.

"They will hold orientation programs in various districts and inform district leaders about the recent developments," Mehata added. The CC members are entrusted the responsibility to conclude orientations with the district leaders by June 28.

MPRF-D has called a meeting of its central committee for June 29 to hold discussion about its future strategy.

In Tuesday´s meeting, the leaders accused Bhandari of being involved in activities to create faction in the party since long.

MPRF-D had recently expelled 10 central committee members including Bhandari, accusing them of involvement in activities against party policy and discipline.

The ousted leaders have called a national gathering for June 27 to announce a new party.
