Ram Ekwal Mandal, 41, of Jyatiyahi-4 of the district was shot dead in a dispute between representatives of various political parties over appointment of the chairman of the management committee for the local Jhatiyahi Secondary School.[break]
Following the incident, police arrested Raju Gupta, CPN-UML cadre, and local Sushil Shah for allegedly opening fire on Mandal.
Police also raided Shah’s house and recovered explosives and weapons including two pistols and four rifles, SP Hari Bahadur Pal informed.
Police are investigating the case.
