BARA, April 8: Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) chairman and former prime minister Surya Bahadur Thapa has said there is no possibility of the monarchy returning to the country.

He was speaking to reporters at Simara airport Sunday.[break]

The RJP chief also said he is optimistic about promulgation of the new statute by May 27 as the apex court has already put a cap on the Constituent Assembly´s term.

He, however, expressed doubt over the possibility of promulgation of a full-fledged constitution considering the lack of political consensus on a few disputed issues of constitution.

Likewise, the former prime minister affirmed that federalism is the right kind of system the country should now adopt but made it clear that federalism based on ethnicity or religion is not acceptable to his party.
