However, 22 districts have not conducted their respective district-level tournaments.
The districts include two districts from the Eastern Region, eight from Central, five from Western, five from Mid-western and two districts from the Far-western Region.[break]
Among the 22 districts are not only remote districts but also districts like Kathmandu and Lalitpur.
According to the format of the national sporting event, district-level inter-school tournaments should be organized first, followed by regional tournaments before the national tournament is held.
"If Humla can conduct the tournaments on time and send players to regional and national tournaments, it is a shame that districts like Kathmandu and Lalitpur failed to conduct district-level tournaments," said Kamal Khanal, coordinator of the national tournament at the National Sports Council (NSC).
"The District Sports Development Committee and NSC staffers in those districts should take the blame for not conducting the tournaments. We´ll seek clarification from them," added Khanal.
He cited lack of coordination between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the NSC as a reason behind the failure to conduct the tournaments.
"The tournament guidelines strictly direct us to conclude regional tournaments by mid-week of May. The budget allocated for those districts, which do not follow the guidelines, will be frozen by this year," said Khanal.
In the past, many districts used to conduct district-level tournaments after the completion of the national tournament.
Meanwhile, many regional representatives were found complaining about mismanagement and inadequate budget to conduct the tournaments.
"The ministry and the NSC are gradually improving the tournament guidelines and considering the problems at district and regional level," said Khanal.
