KATHMANDU, Dec 23: The representatives of six civil servant unions boycotted a meeting called by Minister for General Administration (MoGA) Rabindra Shrestha after the minister and the representatives made hot exchanges in the meeting.

According to a press statement signed by the chiefs of six civil servant unions, they boycotted the meeting after Shrestha accused them of being involved in bargaining with him to secure transfer of some of them to ´attractive´ places.

“The minister attempted to undermine our contribution,” reads a statement. The meeting was called by the minister himself to discuss on current issues concerning civil service and various demands raised by the unions.

“The minister baselessly charged us with giving unnecessary pressure to him to transfer government employees,” states the statement, adding, “He also accused us of barring him from discharging his responsibilities freely due to our pressure.”

It said the minister also alleged them that they are always working for their individual interests and not for the betterment of entire civil service. Shrestha was unavailable for comments.
