DOTI, Aug 21: Doctors deputed to the District Hospital in Doti have yet to report for duty even after one-and-a-half years of receiving their transfer letters.

Apparently, the officers chose not to repot because these locations are remote, and they use their political connections to get transferred to other places, said an official from the hospital.[break]

One such doctor is medical officer, Dr Arjun Archarya. According to Raj Kumar Bhatta, chief of District Hospital in Doti, there is no information about Dr Acharya since he has not come to resume duty at the hospital.

Apart from Dr Acharya, staff nurses Nirmala Parajuli, Asha Sapkota, assistant health officer Sita DC, and auxiliary nurse midwife Sita GC have not reported for duty. Bhatta informs that staff nurse Nirmala was transferred to Doti on February 14, seven years ago, but she is yet to assume her duty.

The deputed medical staffers failure to report to duty and lack of action against them, has been causing a lot of trouble, Bhatta said. “They have neither relinquished their positions nor reported to duty, making it hard for us to appoint someone else in their position,” said Bhatta.

Dabal Saud, a local, blames the government and political parties´ for the trouble people have to go through because of such carelessness. “We have to wait for hours at the hospital when we go for treatment,” said Saud.
