“The meeting has also decided to discuss names of provinces and their territorial boundaries,” said party Spokesperson Dinanath Sharma after the meeting.

Earlier, the Maoists had proposed 14 provinces -Limbuwan, Khambuwan, Kochila, Mithila, Abadha, Tamsaling, Newa, Tamuwan, Magarat, Tharuwan, Bheri-Karnali and Seti-Mahakali.

Later, the Dahal faction had flaoted 10-province federal model. The meeting also decided to give continuity dialogues for consensus. Meanwhile, Senior Vice-chairman Mohan Baidya has expressed objected to the Dahal faction´s decision.

“Our position on 14 identity-based provinces has not changed,” said Baidya. He also said the disputes must be resolved through the Constitution Assembly (CA) and that all the lawmakers should get a chance to use their rights to resolve them.

“All issues must be resolved as soon as possible through the Constituent Assembly,” said Baidya.

Maoist cultural group to campaign against Dahal

ITAHARI: Samana Pariwar, a cultural group close to radical faction of the UCPN (Maoist), has decided to organize musical programs in various districts of eastern Nepal from Saturday. The programs will start from Itahari and will be taken to other places including Belbari, Birtamod, Damak and Dharan. Speaking at a press conference in Itahari, Maila Lama, general secretary of Samana Pariwar, said the program aims to inform people about the ongoing intra-party struggle in the UCPN (Maoist). “We will inform people that we cannot accept party chairman Dahal as our future leader as he has betrayed the Maoist revolution,” he said.
